All my life I have sought peace and freedom, a very hard thing to find. And mostly, when I think of painting a peaceful place usually it has to do with tropical or mountain settings. However, because of the peace I was able to achieve the two years I lived in Hydra, this placement of islands and their baroness depicts best my feeling at that time. The tribe of adolescents come more from peoples of a darker skin. To me, they are the happiest people I have yet to know. My portrayal of them at their uninhibited leisure, their everyday life is what I see as a perfection. And because I have equal numbers, male and female, no gender dominates the other and they are at peace.
