Originally, a study of Picasso’s Blue Child, one which came to represent my own son who died early on. Since then, I have used this child to represent my latest son Anthony and perhaps all the children I have ever had. With this particular work, I have him playing under a tree, where off in the background is a cluster of contrasting yellow trees, aspens, a simple horizon, all heavily textured done by knife, a blue pup near his feet. The sky, textures of blues and greens. The tree blues and black. His hair Pink.
